Heritage Festival Offers Much Entertainment Friday And Saturday

   The annual Heritage Festival will offer fun family activities around the Lawrenceburg Public Square Friday and Saturday, June 1 and 2.

   Events kick off at 6:00 p.m. Friday with an antique car “cruise in.”

    Friday night’s Gospel Music show also gets underway at 6:00 p.m., with the young Huntley sisters. Other slated performers include The Freeman’s, Josh Franks, The Brookwood Boys, and The Kelly’s.

   For youngsters, carnival rides and games will begin Friday evening, continuing throughout the day Saturday. Other kid-friendly activities include face painting, a petting zoo, and art activities, including a quick-draw competition that begins at 1:30 Saturday afternoon.

   At 2:00 p.m. Saturday local Native American residents will stage a “pow-wow” in honor of their Cherokee heritage.

   A Cultural Arts Show will be on display from 10:00 until 4:00 Saturday at First United Methodist Church, just one block west of the square. Included in the display will be antique/unique quilts.

   An Old Time Rock and Roll Show is set to get underway at 7:30 Saturday evening. Slippery Jackson will open. The Skyliters will then perform, accompanied by the Muscle Shoals Horns.

   All individuals attending any of the musical events are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
